"Hillary Clinton Adopts Alien Baby", "First Photos of Heaven", "Osama Captured by Rednecks!"
These are some of the bizarre headlines that you'll see on the cover of 'Weekly World News' -- a parody of magazines like National Enquirer. From its inception, Weekly World News stood out from its competition with it's hilarious and sometimes true headlines. They claim to have discovered a half-human, half-boy being called 'Batboy' and they've run with that for years. So popular there was an off-Broadway musical made about him.
Join Tim and I as we discuss WWN's influence, impact, cover stories and more on this week's episode!

We welcome to the podcast a good friend and fellow horror movie lover, Tim Smith. In this episode, we take a dive into the interesting world of hagsploitation films.
We discuss such classics as 'Whatever Happened to Baby Jane' & 'Hush...Hush Sweet, Charlotte'. These two iconic films from the mid to early 60's set the foundation for movies that have been influenced from them. From movies like 'Ma' to 'The Others', we connect the dots on the different themes and tropes that one comes to expect hagsploitation films and why queer audiences love older actresses. Actresses that are usually cast for such films.

‘Whatever Happened to Baby Jane’ is highly regarded as the mother of all ‘Hagsploitation’ films. In the early to mid-60’s, there was a trend of casting older actresses in roles where they were seen as unbalanced, isolated, & vengeful. These films hold a special place within the queer community because of our respect and love for the actors of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
This film, and others will be our focus for our ‘Pride & Peril’ series. For the next three weeks, I’ll have guests join the podcast and discuss everything from movies with a queer subtext to real-life queer terrors.
Stories that will have you hiding under the rainbow flag your Aunt Judy got you for last year’s PRIDE.
